Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain soreness of tongue also known as Glossitis can occur due to a number of causes like physical trauma and as your husband wears night guard/mouth guard there is a possibility that the tongue gets rubbed against any sharp area over the left side of the mouth guard leading to
tongue injury..
Other causes can be deficiency of iron and
vitamin B12, tongue bite,
acid reflux etc..
I would suggest you to get the mouth guard checked by a
dentist and in case if there are any sharp areas he will smoothen it to ease the symptoms.
He can apply a numbing gel containing Lignocine over the sore area..
Take a
multivitamin tablet daily..
Take Ibuprofen to relieve inflammation and soreness.
He can also do warm saline gargles..
Suck ice pops and gargle with cool water..
Avoid spicy, hard and hot foods..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
