Brief ans:DENTAL ABSCESS/GUM BOIL
Hi..
Can understand your concern..
As per your query a sore lump on your gum can be a "GUM BOIL".
A gum boil can occur due to a number of reasons.
Firstly if it is located just below one tooth it can be due to a deeply decayed tooth which is causing pus formation (
periapical abscess) below the root tips which is causing formation of lump..
In long term or chronic cases there is no pain but it can turn into acute painful condition any time.
Other reason can be a
Gingival abscess (gum abscess) and it can be due to any
injury to the gums in a specified area leading to penetration of bacteria in the gums and causing infection and lump.
At times food particles may stuck into gums and can lead to be a source of bacterial infection.
One reason can be a
Periodontal abscess which occurs when there is infection in the gums leading to formation of pockets between gums and bone and the pockets are potential space for
bacterial growth leading to formation of abscess..
I would suggest you to
consult a dentist and get evaluated for the exact cause of the lump..
In case of decayed teeth
Root canal treatment or extraction can solve the problem..
In case of gum abscess scaling and gum paint application can be helpful.
In case of periodontal abscess scaling, curettage, antibiotics can be relieving..
Hope your query is solved..
