Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Soreness And Inflammation Post Vaginal Granulation Tissue Removal?
I had vaginal granulation tissue cut out and silver nitrate treated a week and a half ago. My hysterectomy was 11 months ago. I feel so sore still after the granulation removal. How long is it typical to feel kind of raw and inflamed after the treatment?
The usual recovery period is about 2-3 weeks post silver nitrate therapy for vaginal granulation tissue procedure. Following guidelines help for better and faster recovery: - Clean the parts with antiseptic liquid or soap - Local application of polymycin or neomycin cream - Sitz bath with epsom salt and lavender oil - Antibiotic as cephalexin to prevent secondary bacterial infection - Anti-inflammatory medications as serratiopeptidase with Diclofenac - Maintain hydration - Urinary alkaliser if early signs of urinary tract infection - Avoidance of vaginal sex is of paramount importance - Control of blood sugar
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
