What Causes Soreness And Itching Sensation Back Of Throat?
I have a stripe down the back of my throat. My throat is sore and scratchy every day.I still have my tonsils but they are not swollen.What could this be? I recently had an infection and took a 2 week regimen of antibiotics, but it has not helped the pain in my throat.

Hi dear ,
As per your query you have sore and itchy throat even after completing course of antibiotics . Well there can be two thins that can be possible :-
- First there can be upper respiratory track infection caused by virus that is why it remains after antibiotic course .
- Secondly it can be due to acid reflux also known as silent reflux in which there is no symptoms like heart burn .
I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like throat swab test , viral culture test or x- ray to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other causes . Doctor may prescribe antiviral drug like acyclovir . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist if there is acid reflux problem . For now do warm saline gargles , eat light specially at night and avoid heavy and spicy food .
