What Causes Soreness And Raw Feeling On Upper Lips?

The soreness and raw feeling under my upper lip started a few weeks ago...it seems to get irritated when a straw slightly cuts into the tender skin...it is red with some white tissue visible (from the straw cut I presume). I usually heal it with tea tree oil or H2O2 rinse and this time some antibiotic ointment but it is not going away this time. I take vitamins with B complex, do not smoke, what s my next step?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

The inner aspect of the upper lips seems inflamed leading to redness and white tissue..
It can be due to lip biting habit, dryness in mouth etc..
If it is not going away you can gargle with a steroid rinse, apply cool compresses and do soda-bicarb gargles..
You should also avoid using a straw if it cuts the mucosa.
You should also take anti inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen..
If still it does not get better then you should get clinical examination done to check for infections..

Hope you get well soon..

Regards.
