Hi, 2 days ago I noticed my tongue was sore with increased sensitivity to any sort of abrasive food. Today, it has become worse when eating or drinking just about anything. I also noticed there are red raw spots all over the tongue, roof of mouth, and throat. I have not started any sort of new med. I do not have a sore throat. I had a pretty bad sinus infection or virus for about a week a month ago. No abx were needed. Any idea at all on what this might be? Or even a direction to explore?
It looks like red spots and soreness on tongue along with soreness can be due to apthous stomatitis that can be secondary to sinus infection which commonly cause post nasal drip and that can cause inflammation in mouth, tongue and throat.. Do not worry as it will get better soon.. You can star gargling with soda bicarb solution in water.. Gargle with 1:1 solution benadryl and milk of magnesia.. You can take a combination of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen.. Take Vitamin B complex and lysine supplements.. Do warm saline gargles and avoid spicy food.. You should also get treated for sinus infection with a proper course of antibiotics and decongestants..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
