Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have an inflammation in throat secondary to infection and it is leading to swollen tonsils causing Tonsillitis..
It can be either due to bacterial or viral throat infection..
But in case if strep test is negative it can be due to viral infection..
However throat swab culture will help in getting a better diagnosis as rapid strep test can be at times false..

As of now if you are awaiting your results you should take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen or Naproxen to relieve pain in throat as well as it will help in reducing swelling..
You can gargle with warm saline solution..
You can also gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
You can chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
Do steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
You can avoid spicy and hard foods and take a soft bland diet with plenty of fluids..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
