What Causes Soreness Around A Flu Shot Injection Site?
Hi! I had a flu shot two and a half weeks ago. I had immediate itching - we thought it was the BandAid so we removed it. Felt fine after that. Had a huge bruise an inch or so above the injection site. That went away a few days ago. Now I have soreness in the same area (which I didn t have before). Thoughts?

The bruise and soreness would be due to damage to the soft tissue in the area where the vaccine was given. This damage is usually temporary and in most cases would not occur for this length of time but this varies depending on the extent of injury. You can consider the use of an anti inflammatory pain killer to see if this helps. This includes medications such as a Naproxen, Ibuprofen or Cataflam. Applying a topical pain killer may also help that is Voltaren gel.
