Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that she is suffering from
Paronychia that is infection in the skin that surrounds the nail or the area where the nail and skin meet..
It can be bacterial or fungal in nature..
As it is present since one week it seems to be acute Paronychia..
It can occur due to vigorous pedicure, trauma to the toe, wearing very tight shoes etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Podiatrist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis..
In case if there is no pus present then soaking the feet in luke warm water with epson salt dissolved in it can relieve..
If there is pus present the physician will drain of the pus and will advise you to apply an antibiotic and
steroid ointment over it..
You can also be given a short course of antibiotics like
Amoxicillin and anti inflammatory painkiller like
Ibuprofen..
Keep the toe dry and clean and avoid moisture accumulation..
Wear cotton socks and also wear proper fitting shows..
Avoid trauma or hitting the toe..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
