What Causes Soreness In Chest And Ribs Along With Coughing Up Of Phlegm?

i have had a bad cough for months now, i take over the counter med. but my ciugh wont go away my lungs feel week my chest is sore, as is my back and rib area . i am sort of breath sometime i can cough up flem and get it out and other times i cant thanks

Hello. Any cough that persists for longer than two weeks should be investigated.
Please visit your general practitioner or a chest specialist for a checkup. He/she will examine you and might advise you a blood test, sputum test, and chest X-ray/CT scan to begin with.
Factors such as age, smoking history, weight loss, fever, type of cough etc are also required to be evaluated.
A chronic chest infection is a common diagnosis, however a thorough work up is essential to rule out other causes.
