What Causes Soreness In The Knee With Difficulty While Bending?

Hi, I had a bad fall last night. I was caring a box and didn t see a suitcase on the floor in front of me. I flew over it hitting my head into the kitchen counter and went down on my knees on the tile kitchen floor. I wasn t able to put my hands down to help with the fall because of the box of dishes I was caring. I lay there for about ten minutes or so not being able to breath very well, when I fell hitting my head my neck slammed back and it was hard to breath for awhile. That has gotten better. My knees wer both banged up and skin ripped off and bleeding. They are both very sore, but the right knee is much worse. I can t bend it very well it almost felt like it popped out when I fell but it is back in place. I m able to walk on the left knee but can t put much weight on the right. If you could please tell me what you think. Thank you, Lisa

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Sorry to hear about your fall and the pain you are going through. I would advise you to have some painkillers preferably oral, followed by X-ray knee joint.

If that's normal and pain persists after a week, the best investigation would be MRI knee joint to look for any rupture of ligament or any fluid collection.

I would advise taking your physician/doctor on board regarding these investigations and painkillers as to decide which medicine suits you better keeping in view other coexisting diseases if any and severity of the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Muhammad Zahir Shah, Internal Medicine Specialist
