What Causes Soreness On The Right Side Of The Neck?

I have a soreness on the right side of my neck. it began yesterday very mild and continued today to be a little worse. within the last 30 minutes the pain has moved to my jaw and almost feels like a tooth ache and it throbs a tad and hurts when I swallow. I have had cold-like symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing) along with it. I had a tiny lump about the size of a pea right above my collar bone on right side also. it appeared about 3 weeks ago. not sure if it is related.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It can be acute pharyngitis or Ludwig angina.

Your oral examination and posterior pharynx examination needed for further work up.

Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medication is a mode of treatment.

The swelling mentioned could be an enlarged node as a reactive process.

You need to consult a nearby physician for detailed evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
