Hello Dr. just under my right bottom rib is sore to the touch. No pain with standing, walking or any movement just sore to the touch like a bruised feeling when I press just under the bottom rib for about a month or so. Can this be something serious?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem is most likely costochondritis. Pain while palpation is characteristic for this. X ray should be taken to rule out other problems. If costochondritis and you were my patient i would recommend using gels of anti inflammatory agents like ketoprofen for local application. If pain is more then i advise to take tab ketoprofen orally for short term. If still pain is severe then i advise local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
