Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had surgery 9 days ago under general anesthetic. I had hemorrhoids banded and the doctor performed stretching of the external sphincter because I previously couldn t tolerate the anoscope without sedation or local anesthetic. For the past several days, I have spasms in my sphincter causing severe pain and the inability to urinate or pass gas for up to 8 hours after a bowel movement. What is causing the spasms? Could the doctor have overstretched the sphincter?
