Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the last almost 30 days or so I have been experiencing spasms in my lower left lip. It happens all day long and my lip, in the portion affected, just seems to sieze momentarily. Usually there is no visual display but just now (1st time) I saw what appears to be a tightenting of my lip in that area until it released and normal appearance returned. What could this be a symptom of?
Excess caffeine in the form of coffee or tea is known to cause twitching of lips. Other causes are side effects of drug like steroids, estrogen or blood pressure medications. Pl get your potassium and parathyroid hormone levels checked as they are also known to be the causes of lip spasms. If none of these come out as a reason for it and you continue to have the symptoms then I would advise you to visit a neurologist for further investigations.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
