What Causes Speech Difficulties, Body Tremors And Clenching Of The Hands?

A close friend has symptoms that are as follows and will not go the doctor. He is in his late 50 s and is having trouble speaking, body tremors and clenching of the hands. He is a retired navy man and the VA has ruled out a stroke. His wife is very worried so I took the time to do some research. Thank you for your time

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is suggestive of Parkinson's disease. Based on the history your close friend seems to be suffering from Parkinson's disease. It is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement and characterized by tremors, muscle stiffness, expressionless face and slurred speech. These symptoms worsen as the condition progresses over time. He needs to be examined by a neurologist for further evaluation and treatment to retard the disease progression.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
