What Causes Spitting Up Of Brownish Mucus?

Hello, I m constantly swolling thick mucus everyday on the back of my throat I guess a post nasal drip the mucus is pretty thick when I sniff then swallow. This morning when I went to spit the mucus up it was like a brownish color. What could that be? I also just had to redo my bedroom because it was filled with mold could that be making my sinuses to flair up and be causing my head to hurt and dizziness?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for asking question.
You could have here bacterial infection of respiratory tract....
Chest x ray done to look for consolidation or fungus ball...
If needed sputum culture done and according to sensitivity drug is given....
If congestive symptoms also present then decongestent might needed.
Steam inhalation also can be useful.
If cough not expectorating easily ambroxol like mycolytic needed....

Here usually levoflixacin or cefixime like broad spectrum antibiotic given if culture sensitivity not done....

Hope your concern solved.

Take care.
