What Causes Spontaneous Bleeding Between The Skin Layers Of My Forearm?
I have spontaneous bleeding between skin layers on my forearm. There is no pain or swelling and the patches fade after 7-10 days leaving no trace. Sometimes my skin clears for a week or two and then bleeding starts again often as I look. Any ideas Doctor? Clive S
Spontaneous bleeding spots under the skin is termed as purpuric spots. Purpura can occur due to deficiency of clotting factors or low platelet count. In case of clotting disorder, deficient factor is transfused. In case of low platelet, cause of platelet reduction should be identified and treated. Vitamin C deficiency, long term use of certain medications such as steroids can reduce platelet levels. Kindly check your complete blood count, clotting factors to choose appropriate treatment. Autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus and connective tissue disorders should also be ruled out.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
