Hi,
Noted your history of sporadic coughing with mucousy brown expectoration in spite of Delsyn cough and chest decongestant DM, no
fever and no
chest discomfort.
The possible causes are some
allergic reaction going on in the respiratory system that is producing the mucousy brown phlegm which in turn is causing reactionary coughing episodes.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
First of all find out what is irritating your respiratory system and avoid these at any cost, these can be fumes, scents, anything in and around your home and office.
Send the sample of phlegm for lab and also the blood samples.
X-ray chest may be needed.
Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and proper medication.
You may need a course of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicine and if there is no evidence of infection then a course of
steroid in tapering doses.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
