What Causes Sporadic Spasms Below The Ribcage?

For the past couple of months I have occasional spasms of something located on the right side of my abdomen. Usually when bending or straining although today it has happened when I just sit down. I can feel a hard knot when that happens. It is located just right under my rib cage in line with my right breast.
