Welcome to HCM!
I have reviewed your concerns and can try to explain a few things that might be happening to your body, but ultimately cannot override the treatment of your physician.
The pancreatic beta cells may not be functioning well. Your doctor said you do not have diabetes, well, perhaps not be the definition of a blood sugar level. The process of diabetes (development of neuropathy,
kidney disease, vascular problems, foot problems) may develop years before your blood sugar warns the doctor of your
pre-diabetes (100-125) or diabetes (>125).
The spot on the
pancreas may be responsible, they are still running tests. But if you were my patient, that is what I would recommend - indepth inquiry into the nature of the pattern of your symptoms.
If you are having weight gain, that can be handled in a normal fashion. Exercise 150 minutes per week and follow a calorie restricted diet.
Per your edema in your legs, I suggest a low sodium diet of less than 2300 mg of sodium, the amount in 1 tsp of table salt (
sodium chloride). That may help the edema. Keep your legs raised when they get discolored and swell up.
Eliminate sugar from your diet completely due to the edema and pending diabetic evaluations to help relieve some of your symptoms.
Discuss other options for
neuropathic pain as Percocet is just a pain medication. You will have better results taking something specifically for neuropathy. If you take
cymbalta, you need to take it consistently. It is not the type of pill you take when you feel like it.
Ultram take whenever you want. Cymbalta and Percocet - potential for interaction. I ran it through my multi-drug checker and a red warning came up for taking these two together. Please discuss this with your local pharmacist for verification.
I hope I have helped somewhat. When your tests return, please feel free to check back with us with further inquiries. Regards, Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
