Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Spots On The Tongue That Has Burning Sensation?
Suddenly spots on my tongue feel like its on fire. This may last about 2 minutes or so before subsiding. Only in a small spot about the size of a pencil eraser. I'm 51yrs old, male. I smoke. I also have fairly severe tinnitis. Dont know if they are connected, or not
Ass per your complain burning of a particular spot over the tongue seems to be most probably due to causes like inflammation caused due to ulcer formation, irritation caused by sharp teeth, tongue biting habit etc..
It can also be a nerve related issue.. It is less likely to be related to Tinnitus however smoking can be a culprit as it might be leading to recurring burning and irritation of tongue..
I would therefore suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation done.. Once the exact cause is ruled out then only an appropriate treatment can be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Regards.
