What Causes Spotting After Misplacing NuvaRing For A Few Days?
I inserted my nuvaring on May 4th. It came out and I misplaced it on May 10th. I wasn t able to get a new one until May 12th and put a new one in then. I have been spotting ever since then. I am suppose to remove it on May 25th to get my scheduled period. Should I take it out now or wait until the normal date? Was the spotting my period or will I still get a regular one? Need help !
Since NuvaRing is misplaced, you are suggested to visit ER, or contact your treating doctor and get it removed. Side effect of NuvaRing is spotting between periods. This is called breakthrough bleeding. The spotting should go away within a few cycles as the body should adjust itself to the hormonal changes. Get the NuvaRing removed as it has got misplaced. Leaving it may cause life threatening complications like perforation, fluid retention, formation of blood clots, etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
