What Causes Spotting Despite A Negative UPT?

Hi, my cycle usually falls around the 9th, this month I had what seemed more like break through bleeding that barely lasted 24 hours and that was all, a week to 2 weeks prior my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex. I ve taken a home pregnancy test, which came back negative, yet even with my last 2 children, Home pregnancy tests didn t show that I was pregnant until I was about halfway through my first trimester. Is it possible that I could be pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Pregnancy test in urine could sometimes be detected late. In case you feel that you could be pregnant, it would be advisable to take the following tests:
1. Serum beta hCG.
2. Transvaginal ultrasound scan (TVS).
Kindly consult Gynaecologist with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
