What Causes Spotting, Red And Brown Discharge In Between The Menstrual Cycle?

hi my name is katherine i just got off of my birth control 2 months ago. i had intercourse for 3 days before during and 3 days after my menstrual cycle 2 months ago. then i had intercourse 14 days after my menstrual cycle, then i had intercourse for 10 days. spotted last month for my cycle, spotted this month for my menstrual, ended for 3-4 days, spotted for another week and then now i am having a reddish or brownish discharge with mucus. can you help me understand what this means?

Hi,

Chances of conception increase after withdrawal of oral contraceptives. You also had sex on 14th day of your period (date of ovulation) and this was followed by spotting for next 2 periods. Spotting at first month can be implantation bleeding and continuation of the spotting in later days suggests threatened abortion. You need to diagnose possibility of pregnancy and its status by ultrasonography scan of pelvis. The treatment advised would depend on results of the scan. Please consult a gynecologist for the same.
