What Causes Spread Of Bruise From Neck To Chest After An Injury?

I received a sports injury in which I took a bad hit to my jaw. it became very swollen but I had no problems talking, eating or moving my jaw. It s been a couple of days now and my neck has become very bruised. This morning, I noticed what looks like bruising moving down my chest, almost like the excess blood from inside my neck is dripping down. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to the injury. I suggest using anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen 400 mg to relieve the pain. I also suggest using cold compresses for local application. The symptoms will relieve on its own gradually.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
