Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have done endoscopy and identified squamous cell carcinoma in bottom of food pipe in esophagus. CT is also done and says it has not spread to any parts and my age is 47 yrs old female. Kindly advise whether surgeries removal is recommended or chemo, radiation and the surgery. Kindly advise as each doctor is giving different answer. Currently having liquid diets as the food gets stuck if taken with out grinding. Make me clear to take up the tretment and how serious is the surgery if it s done.

What Causes Squamous Cell Carcinoma?
Hello, Squamous cell carcinoma is very fast spreading type. yes each doctor will say different opinion. If there is no secondaries better surgery to remove the portion and connect. Secondaries present difficult to remove better chemo or radiation. Now itself you are taking only liquid diet no secondaries -Surgery better option. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr C.ELANCHEZHIAN, General & Family Physician
