What Causes Stabbing Pain In Head And Absent Nasal Bone Situation?
My last three times flying I have had the front pain in my head Twice it was with a burning pain after a stabbing one. Just now I had it but it was not sharp stabbing but there. I am missing a bone in my nose and I do have polyps. I really am afraid to fly again as I feel like I could really do harm to myself. I am scared. Should I be?
The headache what you are describing is also called "Airplane Headache" which causes a stabbing or jabbing pain that starts suddenly usually on one side of the head. It mainly affects the area of the forehead above the eye
Within minutes of the plane touching the ground, the headache usually goes away
As for why airplane headaches occur may be it's due to an imbalance between the air pressure in the cabin and those in the frontal sinuses
Since you say that you are having sinus problem and polyps in the nose this can aggravate the situation
In consultation with your doctor taking a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug, such as ibuprofen or naproxen, along with using a nasal decongestant spray about 30 to 60 minutes before landing, may help relieve or prevent pain
Wish You Good Health
