Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stabbing Pain In The Rectum And Constipation?
acute stabbing pain in rectum, usually lasts about an hour. causes me to jolt when pain suddenly arises and is controlled only by laying still and concentration in relaxing muscles around anus. possibly arises from heavy lifting or prolonged activity. constipation and painful bowels occasionally. distressed over symptoms, recently had a sister die from colon cancer.
Hi, Constipation in your case is a normal response of your body to the pain felt during defecation. Your body wants to protect you from the pain you feel and it slows bowel movement thus resulting in dried and hard feces, and ending in constipation which in turn increases bowel pain. That's why the treatment of the original cause has to take priority. You need to see a gastroenterologist (GI) doctor. He will first order a complete blood count analysis and a colonoscopy. It may be a ulcerative disease causing this, like herpes or other STDs, it can be inner Hemorroids or based from your family history, eraly signs of colon cancer. Please, do not postpone the visit to the GI specialist. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Wish you good health.
