What Causes Stabbing Pain In The Upper Left Abdomen After Eating?

I began experiencing sharp stabbing pain in my upper left abdomen after eating dinner last night. The pain seemed to go away, but after eating a donut this morning, the pain returned. I did not eat anything else, and I didn t want to eat lunch fearing more pain. then, like a dummy, I ate a cookie, and the pain came back very sharply. What might be going on?
