What Causes Stabbing Pain In Upper Arm During Night?

I am having pain in my left upper arm. The pain sometimes feels like it's in the shoulder & down my arm. But at night I get this stabbing pain in the upper arm area about 4-5 inches in the center of my arm. It can feel real bad when I lay down for bed.

You pain can be due to various causes like
tendinitis(inflammation of a muscle's end called tendon),
busitis(inflammation of bursa),
frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis),
Radiculopathy (compressed nerve in the spine that can cause pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness along the course of the nerve)

However, a Physical examination is mandatory to assess this
since there are variety of other causes that needs to be ruled out.

You may need investigations like X ray and MRI to identify proper
cause and manage appropirately
