Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stabbing Pain On The Right Side Of The Head?
I have sudden repeated sudden stabbing pain on the right side of my head. It started yesterday around 1:00pmand did not respond to ibuprofen medication. It has continued all night and is still present now. Right side of head is tender around th temple area . Never happen before.
Noted your short history about sudden headache on right temporal area that has continued in spite of Ibuprofen and have tenderness over the same area the next day. All these symptoms are indicative of one of the following: Vasculitis of the superficial temporal artery. Migraine. Local muscle problems. Hence I would advise you the following: Consult your Doctor to have clinical evaluation, examination and insist for relevant tests of blood for vasculitis. MRI of the brain with angiography helps to confirm or rule out anything else. Get treated according to the cause found. Take a second opinion of a Neurologist. Take rest. Apply pressure head band and see the results. Take strong tea or coffee to see whether this helps and tell your Doctor accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
