What Causes Stabbing Pain Under Arm And Back?

Wow! That was fast. I have been having stabbing pains under my left arm and into my side and back. It has been about four days now and I had to resort to taking Loritab for the pain. It happens when I turn or move in a certain position. I can t get anything done that requires bending. I am always a puzzle and keep thinking this will go away, but its getting old. Any thoughts? Thanks, Oh- I m 66 years old, if that helps.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that there might be having some stiffness of shoulder muscles giving this problem as this is of recent origin.
Otherwise there might be having osteoartheritis changes in your cervical vertebrae or shoulder joint.
If problem persisted then go for x-ray cervical spines and shoulder joint for degenerative changes.
Apply analgesic, muscle relaxant cream locally.
Ok and take care.
