What Causes Sterile Pyuria While Having Thickening Of Lining Of The Uterus?
At the age of 25 (1993) I had chemo therapy, tbi and a sibling donated BMT for AML. The first chemo sent my into menopause and I was put on HRT. I was on HRT (kilofem) for about 18 years. I am now 47 and last year was getting some spotting. After reporting this to my GP he sent me to see a gynecologist and my first test, a scan reveled thickening of the lining of my womb. I was then sent for a hysteroscopy and a D & C where polyps were removed (1 or 2 I gather). I had one more appointment with the gynecologist who was not concerned but asked me to return to my doctor if I suffered any further bleeding.Late last year I was reported to have some sterile pyuria and elevated CRP - could this be related to my gynecological problems that I had? I am 5. 4 in height and weigh 12 stone and am on medication for HBP and asthma.
It is unlikely that the sterile pyuria is related to your gynecological complaints.
Steril pyuria implies that though there is an increase in white blood cells in the urine, no bacteria is detected when it is examined at the lab. CRP is an inflammatory marker and would go up if there is any infection or inflammatory conditions in the body.
This is a condition of the urinary tract only and would not be associated with vaginal bleeding.
I hope this helps
