What Causes Stiff Neck?

I have had a lumbar fusion of the L5-S1 and the last x-ray i had in Feb of 2013 showed that I have DDD in L1-L2 I'm having a lot more pain in that area and I was wanting to know if the DDD in that area would also cause stiffness in my neck and if the disc are bad should I be getting surgery for the L1-L2?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I do not think lumbar disease is causing any trouble in neck, rather you may have disc herniation in neck. I would suggest you to take x ray of the cervical spine to confirm the diagnosis. If there is loss of lordosis and muscle spasm then you can take treatment accordingly.
