* As per my surgical experience, the stiffness and difficulty in bending ankle post injury and hip surgery may be indicative of
- anatomic changes from pressure bearing in particular direction after hip surgery
- inadequate physiotherapy after injury episode
- chronic inflammation of the injured ligaments
- unhealed ligament sprain or tear
- fibrosis of underneath scar tissue healed improperly
- joint inflammation as primary pathology or secondary to trauma
- bursitis
- others
* The proper evaluation matters after clinical examination with need of
@ X- ray of the ankle joint
@ MRI of the ankle region.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
