Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi! I have a pea sized lump on the back of My neck around my hair line. I went to my doctor and she told me its was nothing to worry about that It can be from wearing your hair up or an infection. But that s was four months ago and it s still there. Sometimes my neck is stiff there and sometimes it swells more then others. Should I be concerned
Lump on the back of neck can be any of the following: 1) Occipital lymph node swelling 2) Sebaceous cyst 3) Furuncle 4) Lipoma 5) Dandruff sores
If there is some infection of tooth, ear, nose, there will be enlarged lymph nodes which usually resolve as the infection subsides. You need to note the following: 1) Increase in size 2) Change in consistency 3) Discharge 4) Pain
If any of the above is noticed, go to a dermatologist for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
