Hello,

Lump on the back of neck can be any of the following:
1) Occipital lymph node swelling
2) Sebaceous cyst
3) Furuncle
4) Lipoma
5) Dandruff sores

If there is some infection of tooth, ear, nose, there will be enlarged lymph nodes which usually resolve as the infection subsides. You need to note the following:
1) Increase in size
2) Change in consistency
3) Discharge
4) Pain

If any of the above is noticed, go to a dermatologist for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
