I am 65, usually in really good health, have always run, hiked, gone to the Y etc. I m pretty thin and usually go full-blast, teach in a university.... Now I am sooo stiff over the past year, with pain in my right upper leg specifically but also pain in my back, neck, shoulders and legs. I have been doing OK just hiking lately, but I tried a one-hour weights and exercise class yesterday that would have normally been too easy for me, and I am stiff and in pain all over. My PCP said see an orthopedics guy. The orthopedics guy said my hip looks bad and I can just limp by til I can t handle the pain, but I don t know what the underlying problem is. Arthritis?? And is it better to wait til I can barely move or go ahead and get hip surgery (but then will I need another one? and my knees and my neck?? hmmm). How does this progress?
