What Causes Stiffness In Neck And Jaw Muscles In Person With Bells Palsy?
Yes. Thanks. I had inner earinfections in 2011. I had bells palsy too and it took six months to look normal again. But my eyes jaw and neck all are so tight I can t smile and it feels like nerves and muscles behind the mask that is my face feel like my eyes and jaw are being pulled down. I don t look the way I feel. I think my jaw shifted downward and it s getting harder to speak without mumbling. What do my symptoms point to?
You have history of bell's palsy and inner ear infections. Now you are experiencing tightness in the neck and jaw muscles. Tight jaws or neck may be indicative of stress and anxiety. TMJ disorders may cause it but may be temporary. RA and OA patients have TMJD. Deep breathing exercises, head and neck stretches and physiotherapy are effective. Hot / cold compress, botox injections, NSAIDS may help. Get clinically examined by a dentist to detect and get treated dental problems.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
