Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stiffness In The Neck And Shoulder After Placing A Stent?
My mother had a small heart attack on the 10th. They did a Cath and then 2 days later 7 stents. The day after the stents she started having a stiff neck that s gotten worse. she has been discharged since the 17th. She is still in severe pain on the right side of her neck and shoulder. Is there a possibility this is from that surgery?
First of all, it's sad to know what your mother had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, though angio rarely leads to such complications but if so, pain can be either skeletal due to any abnormal posture during the procedure or very rarely due to any arterial aneurysm which needs to be ruled out on Doppler and MRA if needed.
Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can be helpful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
