Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My left leg and foot, at times, feels like it s being stuck with pins. That s been going on for a month or so. Today, my left knee and behind my left knee have an aching numbness being very sensitive to the touch. Is this something I need to be concerned with.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have stinging pain in the foot and knees. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are probably due to meralgia paresthetica. Other reasons can be sciatica , arthritis , multiple sclerosis or injury . The cause of meralgia paresthetica is compression of the nerve that supplies sensation to the skin surface of your thigh. I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination. Doctor may order x-ray imaging , electromyography , nerve conduction study , nerve blockade with anesthesia . Doctor may prescribe corticosteroid injections , tricyclic antidepressants or gabapentin. For loose some weight and do gentle massage with flax seed oil .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
