What Causes Stinging Sensation In The Vagina And Brown Discharge Before Menstruation?

Hi. For the past few months, I ve noticed that a couple of days before I am about to get my period, I get brown discharge (spotting) and mild cramps. But here s the weird part - while this is going on, I have a stinging feeling in my vagina. The feeling is not constant - when I do feel it, I just wipe the area thoroughly till there is no brown discharge coming off on the tissue. This alleviates the stinging immediately. Should I be concerned, or is it just my body s way of telling me to clear out that old blood?

I have gone through your query and from your description, it appears as though you are experiencing a recurring vaginitis before the onset of the menstrual cycle recently.

Stinging feeling is often associated with vaginitis which may or may not be associated urinary tract infection.

I would ask you to get a proper evaluation along with urinalysis, vaginal and cervical swabs to exclude infection and other local causes like polyps. Please maintain proper genital hygiene.
