Strange sensations in the vagina are common and normal in late pregnancy. Stinging is a difficult symptom to evaluate and the best way to do this would be via a vaginal examination. You may have soreness in the vagina from an infection, or pressure from the baby can also cause these symptoms. Your prenatal care provider should be able to evaluate you and they can check to see if you are having real labor pains, or if you are dilated, or if there is something wrong in the vagina. If you experience severe pain, or if you think your water may have broken (which can be a trickle or a gush, followed by continues leakage) or if you don't feel the baby moving like usual, please go to the hospital to be evaluated, otherwise a vaginal exam by your provider will tell you what is going on.
Good luck with your pregnancy, and take care, Dr. Brown
