Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stinging Sensation In Vagina Along With Pink Discharge?
I am experiencing a stinging sensation in my vagina and it is very uncomfortable. I had discharge the other day that looked almost light pink in color. I thought I got my period early but it went away that night. Now I feel almost as if I have to urinate constantly because of the stinging and sensitivity.
The commonest cause of stinging sensation / pain in the vagina is UTI, E. coli infection. You are suggested to get Urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done, if UTI is detected you will need a course of oral antibiotics. In the meantime, take care of your hygiene. Avoid use of public toilets or washrooms. If sexually active, avoid sex for a couple of days. Always perform safe sex.
Other medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are BV, Bacterial yeast infection, chlamydial infection, etc. You can apply Metronidazolevaginal tablets in the vagina every alternate night for 3 (three) nights at bed time to ease discomfort. Avoid addictions if any and stay well hydrated. Take food rich in minerals and proteins.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
