Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stinging Sensation On Body After Shower?
My husband has been having episodes which he describes as thousands of bees stinging his body. It has mostly occurred after a shower but not always. It has been happening a couple times a week and has brought him to tears. Any idea on what it could be that causes this.
Tingling/burning sensation/stinging sensation may be due insect bite allergy or a sign of peripheral nerve disease/neuropathy. Completely disinfect your room to prevent any insect bite.
Absence of any rashes or redness may indicate nerve disorder rather than allergy.
I would suggest your husband to take basic blood counts, blood sugar in order to rule out Diabetes or other conditions.
All other causes of neuropathy should be ruled out.Sciatica,Nutritional deficiencies such as vitamin b12 deficiencies, autoimmune disease, certain medication side effects should be ruled out.
Treatment is based on the cause.Hot compress and vitamin b12 injection can reduce the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
