General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

His symptoms may be due to peripheral neuropathy. This refers to abnormal function of the nerves , there are different possible causes.
It may be permanent or temporary.

Causes include: (1) diabetes
(2)trauma to the nerves in the area
(3)liver or kidney disease
(4)vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(5)side effect of medication
(6)nerve related problems such as MS or stroke
(7)exposure to toxins
(8)idiopathic- cause not known
(9)some hormonal conditions

He would need blood tests (kidney , liver, vitamin level, hormonal conditions) to determine if any of these are present.

A complete blood count to check for anemia should also be done.

I hope this helps
