What Causes Stomach Ache After Having Food?

I have just go gotten back on a trip, so I fell asleep in late afternoon. The last meal that I had was lunch some hours earlier. I wake up around nine o clock feeling ok, but strangely full. I start feeling stomach pain several minutes later. I took some midol, but didn t help. Around eleven o clock, I take some japanese stomach medicine ( wasn t expired, checked). My pain keeps getting worse, but it s not centered anywhere, it covers my whole abdomen. If I keep changing positions, the pain is minimized, but if ok stay in one position for more than a minute, it gets worse. I got hungry around one o clock, so I had a small cake with custard cream in it. Around two o clock, I start over salivating, and I know I want to throw up, but I can t. The pains on and off, and right now, it s like three in the morning and its kinda muted. This isn t PMS because my cramping happens during or after my period, and I always throw up. Do you think you know what the problem is?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to food poisoning. I suggest avoiding food for the first few hours as your stomach settles down.

Drink water, broth, or an electrolyte solution, which will replace the minerals that you lose with vomiting and diarrhea.

Eat when you feel ready, but start with small amounts of bland, nonfatty foods such as toast, rice, and crackers. Get plenty of rest.

Stay away from dairy, caffeine, alcohol, bubbly or fizzy drinks, or spicy and fatty foods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
