What Causes Stomach Ache After Taking Postinor 2?

Hi, I used postinor 2 tablets 50hours after an unprotected sex. I was expecting my period the following day but it didn t come until the third day after I used the tabs. I noticed hours after using the tabs that my stomach started aching somehow. I still feel the aches one week after I used the tabs and I ve stopped menstruating. I feel heavy in my stomach especially when I bend over or I drink water or even eat. Thanks doc for your prompt response.

Postinor 2 is an emergency contraceptive pill. The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding. Some of them might experience certain side effects like stomach pain, nausea and heavy bleeding after taking such medications. However, such side effects subside over a period of time, most often after the bleeding stops. In case your symptoms related to stomach continues, the medication might have caused acute gastritis, for which you can take liquid antacids or tablet to overcome the same.
