Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Recently I’ve been having these symptoms Stomach pain that lasts several hours after I eat Feeling like I’m about to puke for several hours but never actually puking Having to spit because there’s so much saliva in my mouth it causes me to drool Feeling more sick if I swallow the saliva Feeling weak and light headed Feeling a lump in my throat, making it harder to breath Laying down makes stomach hurt even more, not being able to sleep I’m wondering if it is GERD? Or if it possibly could be early signs of pregnancy? Although I didn’t miss my period for the month so I think it’s less likely
I would like to tell you that your symptoms point towards a diagnosis of Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Nausea, abdominal pain and increase in symptoms on lying down are all indications of GERD.
I would advise you to refrain from eating any oily or spicy food. Stay away from processed foods, alcohol and caffeine. Avoid eating anything two hours before you go to sleep.
Raise the head end of your bed while sleeping. Take an antacid like tablet Ranitidine on empty stomach twice daily. If there is severe indigestion, take Syrup Sucralfate after meals.
If you don't get any relief even after following the above steps, then get your self-assessed by a gastroenterologist. He may do an endoscopy to diagnose any formation of ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma Amman
