What Causes Stomach Ache While Having Abnormal Folds In The Stomach?

My husband has been sick with stomach issues, unexplainable, for over 2 years. Recently he lost 35 pounds in 5 weeks and was rush to hospital for what he thought was a heart attack. he has constant stomach pain. Pancrease related deaths in family. Today while he is hosptialized they did upper xray..and found that he has abnoraml folds in the stomach..is that cancer begining?

Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The inner layer of the stomach is full of wrinkles.

Gastric folds both allow the stomach to stretch in order to accommodate large meals and help to move food during digestion. 

Abnormal folds are not usually related to stomach cancer.

They can be related to Ménétrier's disease which is a benign condition in the stomach.

I suggest to do an endoscopy for further evaluation.
